Shoptalk 2018: Take a Walk In Their Shoes

At Kogent, we’re all about connecting the right brands with the right partners. And Shoptalk (next week, March 18th-21st) is one of the best opportunities in our industry to do just that.

Since we are building a product that makes it easier for brands and vendors to connect, we thought that it might be useful to pull (and enhance) some of our data to help make your show-going experience more efficient. So:

  • We assembled a list of common initiatives that we hear from brands
  • We paired that against brands who have successfully executed these initiatives
  • We detailed the cocktail of vendors who they partnered with to meet their goals
  • We wrote a quick synopsis of how these vendors make up a complete solution
  • And we’ve listed where you can find them at the show (booth #)

We welcome you to take a walk in the brand’s shoes by visiting the software and service partners on the Shoptalk showfloor – just like we will be, as part of our process.

Let us know if you’d like a personal tour by emailing sharon@kogent.io or booking time with us HERE.

Fenty Beauty: Unleashing a Global Beauty Brand Overnight

Rihanna partnered with Kendo Brands to create Fenty Beauty. The brand launched in Sep ‘17 to enormous fanfare, while also leading a movement towards inclusivity in beauty.

This snappy online experience, designed by the Wednesday agency and integrated by Trade Global, boasts a strong list of ecommerce best practices – built on Salesforce Commerce Cloud, integrating compelling user generated content with Olapic, and identifying and engaging unknown visitors with BounceX. We’ve found the site’s speed and stability impressive considering the massive amount of traffic it sustained in the first weeks/months after launch.

Cupshe: Launching a Digitally Native Brand in the US

Cupshe, founded by Chinese entrepreneur Mike Zhao in 2014, was growing rapidly and needed a digitally native solution to launch their brand in the US. Cupshe used a partner playbook that we’re seeing from many new disruptive eCom industry start-ups. They chose Shopify Plus, an e-commerce platform that provides shorter lead times, flexible experience, and easy to activate integrations, and they partnered with Shopify+ experts, BV Accel, who have experience launching digitally native brands.

RXBAR: B2B2C – Creating a New Revenue Channel

We think RXBAR has created a very clean and powerful b2b activation for their smaller retailers that can’t be profitably serviced by a sales organization (long tail). If you’re looking for new retail channels, it’s worth investigating whether long-tail b2b is an option for you.

By using the Magento 2x platform, RXBAR is able to leverage the same platform for both their b2b and b2c experiences. They partnered with Gorilla Group across their Magento and SAP hybris experience – an agency with both b2b and b2c experience. A significant push in this space is based on customer loyalty, and RXBAR partnered with Friend Buy to execute on referrals.
